A mobile tented safari has to be one of the best ways of experiencing the true wilderness of the African bush, a relic dating back to historic hunting safaris and one that has been resurrected into todays photographic world.
Mobile, being the operative word, simply means a light weight tented camp set up in a private camp site prior to your arrival, and moves every few days to a new area throughout your safari. You have the same team of friendly staff greeting you at each new campsite along with the same guide accompanying you throughout, allowing for a wonderful sense of continuity. Come the end of your safari you are all sure to be firm friends.
Whilst enjoying a game drive and tucking into a delicious picnic lunch in the bush, the team busily breaks down the camp, loads up the support truck and a new camp rises from the dust in an entirely new area, leaving behind nature as they found it. With hot showers on the go and all your belongings waiting for you, all that changes is the view.
Although the camp set up is relatively simple, it caters for all the luxuries and comforts that one has come to expect on safari - ice cold drinks,
hot ‘bucket’ showers, comfortable beds and fluffy pillows, freshly baked bread and delicious three course meals under the stars.
It is an ideal way to enjoy one safari - but in several destinations.
Adventurous safari types. This kind of safari also works particularly well with families of older children. You can do this privately, or join a set departure making it a wonderful and affordable option for solo travellers or couples.
Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Tanzania. In Kenya, you can do a mobile safari accompanied by camels carrying all your equipment, allowing you to access remote areas where vehicles are unable to go.
